TheCX-5 really isn't a huge vehicle. People call it a SUV but it's actually a crossover (CUV). It's built on a sedan platform while a SUV is built on a truck platform. The CX-30 is considered to be a compact crossover so if you want something that's actually inbetween a Mazda 3 hatch and a CX-5, the CX-30 should be what you are looking for.
